A buddy of mine bought some real good tickets to concerts at the Houston Rodeo which is currently under way. But his mother has become ill and he will not be able to attend. He has been asking around to see if anyone would be interested in purchasing them from him, actually at this point he would be willing to just give them away so as not to see them go to waste. I personally would love to go, but it is too last minute for me to make arrangements. Even though I am self employed and have a bit of flexibility I still have obligations to meet that I need to tend to.

I haven’t been to a rodeo is a long time. There really isn’t a big call for rodeos up here in Maine, so the choices are pretty limited. But I have been to a few, out of state, and they really are a blast. Something that a lot of people are in to and I’m glad that they are still popular. They are usually affordable and you definitely get your monies worth, the events go on for a good long time and there is a lot going on all the time.

The Houston Rodeo is offering entertainment after the rodeo and has plenty of top name performers lined up this year. I looked it up online and they have Gary Allen, Keith Urban, Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Alan Jackson and many more performing this year. Maybe next year, if I get my ducks in a row I’ll see about attending. It should be a blast.

My sister lives in the mid-Atlantic region, and she says that they have had a very unusual winter this year.  Lots and lots of snow.  The past several winters there has been hardly any snow to speak of.  This year they have had what would appear to be a traditional New England winter, with lots of it!  Frequent, heavy, and lots of accumulation.  She says that it has essentially paralyzed the region.  I’m not surprised to hear that – the DOTs down there don’t plan for these types of things.  They must be way over budget and winter is only half-way through!  I’d like to be a fly on the wall when the next budget meeting is held and they decide that they need to raise taxes to cover the shortfall!  The residents will not be happy about that at all!

In a mobile society such as ours, having the Internet is more than a convenience, and more than entertainment. The Internet has become a valuable resource in many ways. Many people are able to research topics for their school assignments. Many people can use it to find demographic information about an area that they are interested in moving to. With just a few clicks of a button, you can find out just about anything you want to know about Miami, FL; the demographics, the crime rate, and where the local businesses are.

Although I can remember a time in my life when I depended solely on paper telephone books, and had to go to the Public Library for research, it is amazingly simple to research almost any city. My brother told me that he is thinking about moving to either Pittsburgh, PA or Charlotte, NC because of a job opportunity. Within moments we can find a lot of different local businesses in either city. And I think that knowing what the local businesses are will tell you a lot about a place, don’t you?

Sid tells me that he was just given a couple of NFR tickets 2010 and he wants me to go with him! It seems that he had entered a raffle of some kind and the tickets were one of the prizes for the raffle! He never thought in a million years he would win the raffle! Well now we have to take a look at our schedule and finances and see about being able to take off and go with him.

The biggest drawback I can see is the timing of the event – they are held in December, which is usually a very busy time for my business. So I’ll have to look around and see if I can sweet talk one of my friendly competitors to fill in for me during that time frame. I hope that won’t be a problem, since I’ve always filled in for them when they needed (or wanted) to take a vacation!

Besides, I’d love to take some time and do a little gambling in Las Vegas while I’m there! Sounds like a double-your-fun kind of vacation! It is going to be interesting to see how we come up with the plane tickets and hotel reservations!

You just gotta love how the Internet makes looking at car reviews so much easier. There are many website dedicated to assist consumers with their search for the perfect vehicle. I have been looking at some nice chevy silverado 1500 pics on Thecarconnection.com website that is filled with all the information anyone could ask for on new and used cars. I have always been a Chevy man and I can tell you that they (Chevrolet) is still cranking out some nice looking vehicles. The chevy Volt specs that I stumbled onto there were very interesting and the picture intriguing, to say the least. Check out this 2007 beauty:

I certainly would like to take advantage of the program that has been extended, the Cash for Clunkers program, before it finally comes to an end. A lot of people have taken advantage of this extension and I don’t want to be left out in the cold on the deal. I’m taking this offer seriously and hopefully my tax refund check will go a long way this year and I can use a good portion of it for a decent down payment.

I’ve even taken a gander at the honda element, now you can really fit a good amount of stuff in the back of this sport-utility. I have to say is an unique alternative to the other conventional sport-utility vehicles, with it’s awkward looking boxy shape, along with it’s dent-absorbing plastic body panels, and rear-hinged “suicide” back doors, it’s truly sporty and stands out from all the others.  Not sure if that is good or bad in this instance. I do like to be unique but not necessarily standing out from the crowd. The older I get the more I feel the need  to blend in most of the times, heck I don’t even want to put any bumper stickers on any of my vehicles any more.
