I was so excited that my new camera arrived only four days after I ordered it! It sure seems complicated, though; it’s going to take a while to read all of the directions and figure out how to use all of the functions. Apparently it can shoot video too! I didn’t realize that when I ordered it! Cool! Another thing I didn’t realize when I ordered it is that it only stores five pictures on whatever storage “device” or “hard drive” is inside, so I have to go buy a storage chip the next time I go into town so I can take more pictures. I love how I can download the pictures immediately onto my computer! This is the first digital camera I’ve ever had, so this is a big deal for me! I think I’m going to have to buy some storage media to keep all of my pictures on, or I will be filling up this computer in no time at all, and that would be a bad thing; slow it right down to the speed of molasses!

A couple of days ago I got an email from someone I had never heard of before, asking me if I wanted to exhange links with them. Apparantly this person was on a mission to get some free links out of me, because when I went to check out his web site, I saw that his website was still under construction.

I don’t mind helping out a friend when they want to build links for their web page, and I even encourage people to check out the free link exchange webpage to see if their service is something that they would benefit from. I just don’t appreciate it very much when someone asks me to link to a blank page. I’m rather picky about who I link to, and I would hate to give up a link to a blank page and then later find out that the page is something sub-par that I don’t really want to be associated with!

I bought a new digital camera over the Internet today. I’ve had my reservations about buying one over the Internet, afraid that it would be a poor quality. But this particular camera I had been able to see in the store, up close and personal and felt it was a good camera. I would have bought it at the store, but they were sold out and couldn’t tell me when it was coming in again. I waited three weeks for it to come in, and it didn’t so I finally ordered it online. I could have had it shipped to the store for free, but it would have taken three weeks to get it, and having shipped to my house was only $6 and I am supposed to get it within three days. I figured that it was worth the $6 to get it that much earlier. It’s a 10mp 3xzoom and only cost $109! A bargain! I’m really looking forward to getting it and starting to use it!

Written by my friend Lino Brown

The securitychoice installers came over today to install a new home security system in our home. I was surprised how quickly everything got done. I took the afternoon off of work so that I could let them in, but they were literally done within the hour. Because I already had the afternoon off, I decided to just stay at home and take the day for myself. I went to the grocery store early for the week and started to cook a great dinner. I got to watch some talk shows that I never get to see because I am a work and loved every minute of it. I also got all of my laundry done and bills paid. It is amazing what you can get accomplished when you leave work early. My kids were shocked that we didn’t have to run to the store and that great dinner was already made when I picked them up from school. I think that I may consider working part-time! I really got so much done in those short four hours that I lose at work everyday!

I find it interesting how many people are carving their living out of the technology created by the Internet. When I was in high school the personal computer did not even exist yet! There is so much to learn about computers and the Internet. And not just about how to send emails and buy things (although that’s fun!) but if you want to run a business and utilize the Internet to help grow your business then you need to either learn all you can about web hosting. Sooner or later you will need to make some decisions about whether to use a host with managed hosting and/or colocation hosting.

I swear, it is enough to make an old man cringe and want to pull the covers up over my head! And that is exactly why the younger generation has a great advantage over us older folks; they are growing up with the technology and are comfortable with it all. Heaven help them, though, if they ever need to change their own flat tire!

I’ve been really lucky in that I have a nephew that helps me with my blogging. He has helped me from the beginning, to help me learn how to buy a domain name, find a wordpress host, and set up my theme. I’m still actively learning things about blogging and the Internet on a daily basis. There is so much to learn, and technology moves so fast!

I can remember taking a college course in computer sciences but that was so long ago that I know that my knowledge is obsolete at this point! So I am grateful that there are a lot of great tutorials available, and good friends and family members that are good hearted enough to lend a hand when I have a question or an issue that needs to be resolved. The advancing technologies are evolving so fast it makes my head spin!

I was impressed when I found out that some web hosting companies have decided to use wind power as their source of energy. What impressed me the most about this is the realization that not all companies are more intent on making huge profits at the expense of the environment.

I’ve been especially discouraged lately by the many videos I’ve seen about how America’s large companies have shifted their production to overseas; not just because the labor is cheaper, but because the environmental protection laws are practically non-existant. So these companies are polluting the world and getting cheap labor. When are we going to realize that polluting our neighbor’s yards will eventually come back and bite us in the rear end?

So I’m particularly impressed when I find companies that provide “green” services. And there are environmentally friendly web hosting companies out there. The next time I need to find a new host, I’ll be taking a good hard look at them.

My sister was complaining that her new house has very low water pressure in it. So low, in fact, that the water does not come out of the shower heads hard enough for her to rinse her hair when she washes it. Naturally my response was for her to wash her hair in the kitchen sink, but that only resulted in growls from my sister AND my wife.

My wife told her she could order some low pressure handheld shower heads from the takeashower.com website and see if that helps any. She found out about their low pressure shower heads from a friend of hers at work who also has low pressure problems at her house. I told her that if she buys it, I’ll install it for her. I hope it helps!

I can remember as a kid, carving a rubber pencil eraser and using it like a rubber stamp. Several years later, in art class in school, we carved stamps out of a block of some kind – I can’t remember now what the block is made from, but I still have the stamp tucked away in my desk drawer!

Rubber stamps of yesteryear are messy things. I can remember in the office that I worked in how we had several rubber stamps that we used. We were always making a mess with them, and always having to re-ink the stamp pads. When pre inked stamps first hit the market, I thought that they were exorbitantly priced, but I thought that they were really cool! The new pre inked rubber stamps certainly weren’t as messy as the old-fashioned kind!

Now I have a couple of custom pre inked stamps at home – one with my signature, one with my return address, and one to deposit checks. Since I suffer from arthritis in my hands and it hurts to hold a pen, I love them all!
