Hard to believe that Labor Day is coming up and summer will be over. I hope we don’t go directly into winter and that we get a chance to enjoy a nice autumn season this year. Next thing you know the holidays will be upon us, once again, I’m so not ready for all of that. What I am ready for is a round or two of golf at one of the better Myrtle Beach golf courses that I’m hearing so much about.
It seems that Myrtle Beach golf packages are selling like hot cakes this year. Since BP has messed up so many of the other beaches people are flocking to Myrtle Beach for fun in the sun and the ocean. I’ve always enjoyed spending time at Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach is my favorite area of all.
Did you know that you can go to http://www.myrtlebeachgolf.net and book your tee times and your accommodations as well? A one stop shop kind of place, well worth checking out. We still have a little bit of decent weather left in us, at least I sure hope so!
I have been getting so much grief from people concerning the fact that I have not signed up and participated with the well known Face Book community. Face Book seems to be every where you turn these days. So this week end I’ll take a look around and see if it is anything that I can get a handle one.
I have to admit that I am really envious of today’s youthful students. When I was in high school, the only way to get the right Math answers was to figure it out for yourself, ask your parents for help, or call the smartest kid in the class and ask for help over the phone. Fortunately for me, the smartest kid in the class was a nice kid who didn’t mind helping me out from time to time.
Since the age of the personal computer, and the Internet have arrived on the scene, there are so many advantages in life for today’s young folks. It doesn’t take very long for them to find out about the many different Online tutoring services that can be used to help kids to understand their homework problems.
Free math tutoring online is available with just a few clicks of the mouse to any Internet-savvy student. I find it amazing what the Internet can do to enrich all of our lives!
It really does pay to know some one who can help with your PC issues. I have become spoiled by our ITs at work that are at our beck and call when ever a computer problem rears its ugly head. They aren’t always as quick about it as I’d like but at least they do what they can, with what they have. Budget cutbacks have made their department a nightmare to work for, so I have to cut them some slack in that area.
I enjoy picking their brains when I have the chance to. They know all about dedicated server issues, the best managed hosting information and colocation particulars that most people, like me, know little or nothing about. We have a few people in our family that are pretty good with computers but they are always busy or have an attitude (this family is always having an attitude with somebody) and can’t always be counted on.
I wish that I had had the insight, back in the days of choosing a profession/occupation to have gone to computer school. There will always be a need for computer help, just like there will always be a need for an Undertaker, depressing but so true.
I found this on youtube, supposedly it was a banned commercial. I thought it was cute, and see no reason for it to have been banned. I wonder if it was just titled as banned to get attention? What do you think?
The Beatles are hitting their 70′s, imagine that. I heard that Ringo just celebrated his 70th birthday and performed on that night. The big buzz is that Paul actually showed up for a short cameo appearance. It’s about time Paul got his act together.
Here is one of my favorite Beatle tunes, thanks to YouTube.com for allowing me to listen to all the tunes, past and present.
OK, I’ve decided that it is time to check into getting a decent security video camera and one of the security systems that I’ve seen online with ADT. They have been around for a very long time and have a good reputation, they must be doing something right considering all of their little yard signs that I see dotting the lawns around the neighborhoods.
Times are not getting any better for people. The crime rates are still on the rise, with folks getting very desperate in order to survive. Druggies are even getting bolder with their thieving in order to keep up with their habits. Home break ins are becoming an every day occurrence and making the headlines more and more. It just ain’t right. More people are buying dogs and purchasing large dogs as well in an effort to protect their home, property and their loved ones. But I’m more of a security systems type of guy at this point.
ADT offers a backup battery and equipment guide features. We are always losing power out here so having a battery backup is a must. Some times we are without power for days and that could turn into a nightmare, considering the circumstances. Crooks would and could take advantage of a long time power outage and people could get hurt. So I’m glad that I did my research online and found ADT. They have a variety of packages available according to your needs and wants, it’s all good as far as I’m concerned.
I’m pretty handy around the place and I can do a variety of jobs myself in order to save money rather than calling in a professional. But this morning when the basement flooded with raw sewage, it was time to call a plumber. The sewage pump that I had only purchased less than a year ago stopped working and what a nasty mess I had to deal with!
The 4th of July turned out to be a really hot day that didn’t cool off much by the time the fireworks were scheduled to start. The heat made people a bit grumpy, there just didn’t seem to be enough to liquids to keep everyone hydrated, but we all survived.
It was too bad that there were several injuries reported on the news the next day, due to fireworks malfunctioning. It seems to happen each and every year. Such a shame to hear that a day that is supposed to be fun turns out in disaster.
A couple of buddies of mine are planning a trip to New York City and have asked me if I would like to come along. They are thinking that the end of September would be a good time to hit “The Big Apple” it sounds good to me. The holidays are the best time to go to the big city, but the crowds are a pain, so September might just turn out to be a good choice for us.
There are so many things to see and do in New York. Of course we will make sure and see some good shows while we are there. I have been asked to check out some of the venues online, since I am pretty good on the computer, so I have taken some time to see what type of shows are going to be running them. The Internet makes this task a much easier one to take on. I’ve checked into some IZOD CENTER TICKETS as well as some JONES BEACH THEATRE TICKETS and they are much more affordable then I first thought, which is a pleasant surprise. New York isn’t known for being cheap what-so-ever, if you know what I mean!
It will be too late in the year to utilize any of the Central Park Summerstage TICKETS that are being heavily advertised, but that is all right, there is a huge variety of events to pick from and I have my work cut out for me trying to please every one’s taste, wants and needs, but I’m up for it and look forward to the challenge.
With so many shows on the TV that are such a turn off to me, I’m grateful for channels like the Discovery Channel, The History Channel and The Animal Planet Channel. It’s Me or The Dog is really a good show, Victoria has helped a tremendous amount of people with their doggie issues and I think that she is in for a long career with The Animal Planet.
Thanks to my friend Mark Hawthorne for the guest post.
Every Wednesday night, I make sure to set my satellite TV’s DVR (Digital Video Recorder) to automatically record this bizarre show. We can also control our florida satellite tv from our home in New Jersey to record it there too! It stars a rather peculiar man named Billy. Billy operates an extermination business with the help of his parents and also his wife Mary. They all stay in a giant mansion, but I do think it’s just a little bit odd that he is still living with his parents after all these years. For they are in remarkably good health, and neither his father nor his mother look a day over 60.
Billy’s mother works as sort of a ‘dispatch’ operator. Whenever their customers call the office, they explain their situation to her. She then calls Billy, and gives him the details of the job. But this is where it starts to turn into more of a comedy act than a reality show, because she can be just a little bit eccentric at times.
One of my favorite episodes to this day, is a wasp extermination job. Billy arrives on the job site with his accomplice Randy, who apparently is severely allergic to wasps. Randy lets Billy do most of the ‘dirty’ work, staying away from the dangerous insects. But right at the end of the episode, the camera cuts to a scene of Randy. He is holding a wasp in his hand, most likely a dead one. But what happens next is guaranteed to blow your mind. He eats it. Never in a million years would I have been able to predict that!
Baseball season is in full swing now and some teams are beginning to separate themselves from the rest of the pack. Whether or not these teams can maintain the leads they have remains to be seen, and it is not out of the question that lower ranked teams can still put together some winning streaks and climb out of the cellar. In either case, I know that Major League Baseball will be one of the most watched sporting events on my satallite tv this spring and into the summer.
The team I follow is the Milwaukee Brewers and currently the Brewers are in a bit of a slump. The Brewers’ offensive capabilities remain solid as ever with incredible hitters such as Ryan Braun, Prince Fielder, and Casey McGehee leading the way for the crew. The pitching is the Brewers’ main weakness and has been for the last few years. The starting rotation more often than not can make it the six or seven innings they need to go, so manager Ken Macha almost always has to dip into the bullpen sooner than he would like. The only problem there is that the bullpen has been prone to give up big innings just like the starting rotation, which doesn’t lead to very good results. In addition, the all time saves leader Trevor Hoffman who is usually a rock solid closer for the crew has already blown more saves this year than he did all of last year. If the pitching doesn’t get better, it may be a long summer for the Brewers.
June 1st is here. Black fly month is officially over, and the mosquitoes are taking over. There is about a two week overlap where both of the pests are intolerable, but for now it is mosquito season. I really dearly love living in the countryside in New England, but I think that I would enjoy it more if there were fewer biting insects!
One thing is for sure, the bats and the dragonflies will not be starving to death anytime soon! There are plenty of mosquitoes to support their families for a long time to come. And I have plenty of Deep Woods Off to help me survive out there!
My brother-in-law in a total computer geek. That’s a good thing to be in this day and age! Every time my wife decides that she has outgrown her computer, she talks with her brother about what she should get, and how much she should expect to pay for it. Even though he lives more than 800 miles away from us, she calls him every time she has trouble with anything related to software or hardware.
I can remember one day coming home from work and my wife was telling me that she was having some kind of trouble with the computer. She had been re-booting it a few times, trying to get it to fix itself, but to no avail. So after supper she called her brother and told him she was stumped, and needed his help. Fortunately he had some remote desktop software that he sent her that allowed him to look at our computer without even leaving his house. It was very strange to watch as he took over control of the computer from 800 miles away!
We watched, fascinated, as the cursor moved across the screen, as if an invisible hand was moving the mouse. Every now and then he called the house and told my wife to reboot the computer and let him sign back on again. It only took him about an hour to fix the problem, and my wife was thrilled! She hated the thought of having to break down the computer into its separate components and taking it to the repair shop for them to keep it for a week before even looking at it!
I love the Improv Everywhere group! I became a facebook fan of theirs, and I like to watch their videos on YouTube. Their most recent escapade has to do with the Ghostbusters in the New York Library! I understand that their stunt made the local television news! Well done! I’d love to see them in action for myself someday! Here’s their video – it’s a riot! Enjoy!
As I think back to years past, listening to stories of my grandparents and parents about the daily life that they led, I find myself thinking about how much life has changed since I was born back in the 1950′s. I marvel at how we have taken for granted such miraculous technological advances such as internet broadband satellite. I can remember as a child being so excited when my parents brought our first television into the house – a black and white tube monstrosity that we loved to sit in front of and watch the Mickey Mouse club and Jackie Gleason.
I remember learning how to type with a manual typewriter – we only had one electric typewriter in our class! To have progressed this far in our lifetime alone is mind boggling!
In today’s world, we use the Internet for so many things that we used to do manually. We use it for shopping, for communication, paying bills, doing research, playing bames, watching television and movies. We love watching videos from youtube, and buying great bargains from Ebay! Whenever we lose electricity at our house the entire house is “up in arms” because the Internet goes out too! It’s amazing how the Internet can be accessed from almost anywhere in the world – isn’t technology wonderful!
With April 15th looming so close there are a lot of unhappy tax payers who are trying to find a way to pay Uncle Sam his just dues. Even with all of the tax credits that have come out recently there are a lot of people who aren’t getting a refund and need to send in a check along with their paperwork.
My sister is one of those people and she has had to take out a personal loan in order to take care of her situation. This has broken her heart because she has never had to deal with borrowing money and all that goes along with the process before. She has always paid cash and has had great credit up until last year. The economy has taken it’s toll on everyone it seems.
But she did go online and found a website moneynowusa.com that made the process an easier one to take on. They had her taken care of in about an hour and she is on her way to the post office tomorrow to get in it the mail and post marked by the 15th along with everyone else that has waited until the last minute to get their filing issues done.
I’m worried, however, that this is an ominous omen for her financial future. Personal loans like this can be a problem if not paid off quickly!
It is good to know that there are options out there for folks that are “in the know” or take time to look around a bit online to find products and services at good prices. I don’t know what I’d do without the Internet. Hard to imagine life back in the 70′s and 80′s without the World Wide Web incorporated into our daily lives, as it is for so many of us these days.
The economy has been making life way too stressful for way too many of us. It is all about the money these days (or the lack there of) and how to make the best out of a bad situation. Having Internet access puts a lot of power at our finger tips and the paper version of the “Yellow Pages” will be out of business in the next decade do to the Internet. It is so much easier to Google “eyeglasses” then to find the Yellow Pages, find the correct section and then try and find a local place that sells good quality, but affordable, eyeglasses to check out.
Zenni Optical is a well known online retailer of low cost eye wear. They have complete eyeglasses that start at $8 and shipping is always $4.95 each order. Every pair of glasses that are sent out are fully UV protected, come with a hard case and a cleaning cloth as well. That is a great deal that would be hard to beat anywhere, check them out if you have the need for some new glasses.
A few days ago I was writing a check to a guy I don’t know in exchange for some frozen meat to stock up my freezer. When I told my wife that I had written the check, and it was to a guy I didn’t know she was very upset with me. She asked me which pen I used to write the check; she was worried that the guy might wash the check and drain our account! Well, I told her that I wasn’t sure which pen I used, but I thought it was the uni-ball vision elite. I wasn’t sure if that was a pen that helped to prevent check washing. So today I did a little bit of cruising around on the Internet and found that according to their website, that particular pen does help to prevent check washing. And then I went online to see if the check had been cashed yet, and it had been – for the right amount of money. Whew! What a relief! We would have been some upset if we had found we were duped!
