America’s liability charts look like the immigration charts, lots of red ink. The US government cannot pay for what it has already promised to current citizens, which is why you are starting to hear about raising the retirement age, etc. Don’t believe me, look at the US debt clock site below. Look at the bottom at the total UNFUNDED liability number of 110 TRILLION dollars, up another 4 TRILLION. Spend a few minutes looking at the numbers on this site; they are eye-opening.

The Beatles are hitting their 70′s, imagine that. I heard that Ringo just celebrated his 70th birthday and performed on that night. The big buzz is that Paul actually showed up for a short cameo appearance. It’s about time Paul got his act together.
Here is one of my favorite Beatle tunes, thanks to YouTube.com for allowing me to listen to all the tunes, past and present.
OK, I’ve decided that it is time to check into getting a decent security video camera and one of the security systems that I’ve seen online with ADT. They have been around for a very long time and have a good reputation, they must be doing something right considering all of their little yard signs that I see dotting the lawns around the neighborhoods.
Times are not getting any better for people. The crime rates are still on the rise, with folks getting very desperate in order to survive. Druggies are even getting bolder with their thieving in order to keep up with their habits. Home break ins are becoming an every day occurrence and making the headlines more and more. It just ain’t right. More people are buying dogs and purchasing large dogs as well in an effort to protect their home, property and their loved ones. But I’m more of a security systems type of guy at this point.
ADT offers a backup battery and equipment guide features. We are always losing power out here so having a battery backup is a must. Some times we are without power for days and that could turn into a nightmare, considering the circumstances. Crooks would and could take advantage of a long time power outage and people could get hurt. So I’m glad that I did my research online and found ADT. They have a variety of packages available according to your needs and wants, it’s all good as far as I’m concerned.
The 4th of July turned out to be a really hot day that didn’t cool off much by the time the fireworks were scheduled to start. The heat made people a bit grumpy, there just didn’t seem to be enough to liquids to keep everyone hydrated, but we all survived.
It was too bad that there were several injuries reported on the news the next day, due to fireworks malfunctioning. It seems to happen each and every year. Such a shame to hear that a day that is supposed to be fun turns out in disaster.
One of the things that I’ve always liked about living here in Maine, is the fact that crime and violence tend to be rare occurrences. Although from what I hear, and read, the crime and violence of more populated areas is slowly creeping into Maine. For example, the recent arrests of some biker gang members, most notably some members of the biker Outlaws gang. I was really surprised to read about the raid and arrests; I just don’t expect that sort of thing to happen here. Gang violence is a scary thing.
With all of the defeats going on with the attempts to plug the gushing oil in the Gulf of Mexico, and the news of how it is reaching the shore, and into the marshes, I started to wonder what in the world will happen if this stuff catches on fire? With hurricane season upon us, is this going to spread the pollution even more?
I wonder if the experts at BP have even called in outside experts to try to help with this problem. I am very disappointed that every attempt to stop the gushing oil has failed. I have to wonder if it will ever be contained or will it just keep gushing until the well runs dry.
I love the Improv Everywhere group! I became a facebook fan of theirs, and I like to watch their videos on YouTube. Their most recent escapade has to do with the Ghostbusters in the New York Library! I understand that their stunt made the local television news! Well done! I’d love to see them in action for myself someday! Here’s their video – it’s a riot! Enjoy!
I’ve been hearing a lot of talk about the new contact lens technology that I’m considering urging my wife to go back to the eye doctor to talk about getting a prescription for the latest contact lenses. She tried wearing contacts back in the early 1980′s and had really bad luck with them. Her astigmatism was really bad, which made it hard for her to remove the lenses. And the floated around on her eyes, which was painful, and made her eyes water and her nose run constantly. She tried them for a couple of years but gave them up when she got pregnant because the doctor advised her not to wear them while she was pregnant. After the baby was born she just didn’t have the time to fool with them, so she gave up.
But now I’m thinking that with the new contact lens technology, she probably can go to the soft lenses which would be a lot less painful to wear. Although I don’t know if she would have the stomach to do what needs to be done to remove them. She gets really weird about her eyes – she can’t even put eyedrops in by herself!
I forgot to mention that while I was flea marketing over the weekend, I found out that one of my favorite markets will be closing down soon. It seems that something happened to the owner and now the whole deal is up for sale. What a bummer, it is a great market that has been around for a very long time. I always enjoy the people that I meet there and have found some really good pieces from time to time.
My sister lives in the mid-Atlantic region, and she says that they have had a very unusual winter this year. Lots and lots of snow. The past several winters there has been hardly any snow to speak of. This year they have had what would appear to be a traditional New England winter, with lots of it! Frequent, heavy, and lots of accumulation. She says that it has essentially paralyzed the region. I’m not surprised to hear that – the DOTs down there don’t plan for these types of things. They must be way over budget and winter is only half-way through! I’d like to be a fly on the wall when the next budget meeting is held and they decide that they need to raise taxes to cover the shortfall! The residents will not be happy about that at all!
I do like my chocolate, and when you throw in some peanut butter, all the better for me. I always have a bag of Reese’s Pieces close by to munch on. I just saw on TV that they are coming out with a dark Reese’s peanut butter and chocolate candy bar. I prefer my milk chocolate, but am always willing to try something new, besides they are now saying that dark chocolate is good for you.
You just gotta love how the Internet makes looking at car reviews so much easier. There are many website dedicated to assist consumers with their search for the perfect vehicle. I have been looking at some nice chevy silverado 1500 pics on Thecarconnection.com website that is filled with all the information anyone could ask for on new and used cars. I have always been a Chevy man and I can tell you that they (Chevrolet) is still cranking out some nice looking vehicles. The chevy Volt specs that I stumbled onto there were very interesting and the picture intriguing, to say the least. Check out this 2007 beauty:

I certainly would like to take advantage of the program that has been extended, the Cash for Clunkers program, before it finally comes to an end. A lot of people have taken advantage of this extension and I don’t want to be left out in the cold on the deal. I’m taking this offer seriously and hopefully my tax refund check will go a long way this year and I can use a good portion of it for a decent down payment.
I’ve even taken a gander at the honda element, now you can really fit a good amount of stuff in the back of this sport-utility. I have to say is an unique alternative to the other conventional sport-utility vehicles, with it’s awkward looking boxy shape, along with it’s dent-absorbing plastic body panels, and rear-hinged “suicide” back doors, it’s truly sporty and stands out from all the others. Not sure if that is good or bad in this instance. I do like to be unique but not necessarily standing out from the crowd. The older I get the more I feel the need to blend in most of the times, heck I don’t even want to put any bumper stickers on any of my vehicles any more.
The statistics are indicating that more people are in need of a good quality Private Alcohol Rehab center these days. With the economy in the toilet more people are turning to drugs and alcohol to ease the pain that has been dumped on most of us. The crime rate is on the rise as well due to the economy in crisis. People are getting desperate and we all know that desperate times call for desperate measures.
Drug and Alcohol Treatment Centers are opening up all over and doing a booming business. Dr. Drew and his Celebrity Rehab show on VH1 brought the light to a whole lot of people who where and are in need of a good Drug and Alcohol Rehab. It isn’t just our celebrities that are struggling with addiction issues and problems, but seeing them through their struggle was the incentive that a lot of people needed to step up to the plate and get treatment for themselves, pretty cool huh?
The Internet is a great tool to find the best treatment centers and I would urge anyone to take a look around and see what is out there if they know of someone who needs treatment or if they need treatment for their own addictions before it is too late.
I think it is incredibly sad there there are people “out there” who are saying things like Haiti’s earthquake disaster is God’s vengence on the island for having made a pact with Satan. I would think that if God was that upset with people for having made a pact with Satan he would just smite those individuals directly responsible at the time of the misdeed and call it good. But to continue to take vengence for more than one generation on an entire country suggests an unforgiving entity, and I would really like to think that God is not that hateful!
Needless to say that it was quite a shock to hear about the earthquake in Haiti. I cannot even begin to fathom the terror, pain and heartache that the victims, their families, and friends are going through. Watching the news stories about the whole event is simply heartbreaking. A disaster of such magnitude is hard to imagine! And the logistics of the relief effort must be such a nightmare! I am so very thankful that they world seems to be rushing to help. I hope that the relief effort helps to ease the pain and suffering and that the world helps to bring Haiti up out of the poverty that it has been suffering for so long.
I was reading on the Yahoo odd news a story about how a man who owned a pizza shop in Pennsylvania had shot a deer and put the carcass in his pizzerias kitchen for a friend to come pick up. Somehow one of the pizzeria cooks “mistakenly” started to carve up the deer. He was spotted by a restaurant patron, who complained to the health department. No citation was issued. I cannot imagine how a cook, in the employment of the pizza shop could “mistakenly” carve up the deer! Seems to me that he must have been told by someone to do that, don’t you? If not, wouldn’t you think it was a health violation to simply have a dead deer in the kitchen? Sounds very suspicious to me!
I was reading an article on msn.careerbuilder.com about how changing jobs frequently has become “the norm.” Gone are the days when a person when to work for one company right out of school and stayed with that company for twenty five years and then retired with a good pension. I think that part of the reason for the change is that companies don’t want to give their employees good benefits with a good pension.
Many companies “lay off” their employees just a week or two before they become benefit-eligible, or before their pension becomes vested. Companies want their employees to be loyal and dedicated and give up their personal life for the company, but employees have learned that even if they do that the company will simply take and take and not give back. Employees have learned that the company is not going be loyal to them, so employees have started to move from company to company, trying constantly to “improve their lot.”
This is going to be interesting, to see how this gets resolved. I hope it does not end up in more jobs going overseas!
I never thought I’d see the day when the state of Maine legalized gay marriages! For having so many republicans in government office, I would have thought that there would have been a lot of conservative opposition to the bill! But it has passed, and was signed into law! So it’s official; same sex marriages will be recognized and performed throughout the state! That’s very progressive! I wonder what effect that will have on the demographics and economy of the state as time goes on.
I am fascinated about how much publicity is being given to the swine flu this year. Thankfully no one that I know personally has gotten it yet, and I hope that no one does. I am wondering why this flu is receiving more press than the other annual flu outbreaks that also kill lots of people! And I wonder why the flu is being called “pandemic” when the press is not reporting thousands of people being killed by it. And for Egypt to order all of their pigs to be slaughtered is simply absurd! People are not catching swine flu from pigs, for crying out loud!
This is peeper season. No, I don’t mean “peeping tom” season, I mean the critters that make “peeping noise” all night long. These are amphibians that are trying to get the attention of the opposite sex so that they can mate. For years I’ve been told that they are frogs, but I was just reading a really interesting article on the yahoo news website about how some New England towns are actually organizing volunteer escorts to help amphibians cross the roads at night to help them get to their mating sites. Apparently these escorts try to find amphibians that are trying to cross busy roads and scoop them into buckets, and carry them safely across the road. I thought that was very interesting! The article continues to write about how some towns are considering building tunnels in parts of the road so that the amphibians will be better able to cross without needing that escort service. I thought that was a great idea too!
