I remember hearing the Big Bopper’s song Chantilly Lace on the radio, but I don’t think I ever saw him on TV. I was surprised to be able to find a video of him performing on YouTube! When I found this video, I grabbed my wife and made her dance with me. She thought I was crazy! But it was fun!

I can remember when I was a teenager, it was very difficult to buy tickets to go to events. First of all, teenagers didn’t have credit cards to use and their parents wouldn’t dream of lending their credit card to their teenagers! And it was simply unheard of for a teenager to have a debit card, or even a checking account for that matter! So if a teenager wanted to buy a ticket to an event they pretty much had to travel to a place that sold the tickets and pay cash for the tickets. And sometimes that meant driving more than an hour to get there just to buy the ticket for an event that might be months away!
That’s one of the amazing things about today. Today many teenagers have debit cards and the Internet gives them access to tickets to just about any and every event you can imagine! Without even leaving their chair they can go online and buy TD Banknorth Garden Tickets, Garth Brooks Tickets, Madison Square Garden tickets, CEASARS PALACE TICKETS, Verizon Center Tickets – you name the place and you can probably get the tickets. Teenagers sure have it easy!
A couple of nights ago I was up late and saw an infomercial about some Golden Oldies CDs being sold by Time Life; the pitch was being done by Bowser of the group Sha Na Na. Sorry to say there was a sales pitch lady there but I don’t remember her name! Anyway, the infomercial inspired me to look up Sha Na Na on YouTube and I found this clip. I wonder what the deal is from Bowser spitting on another band member! What was that about?
One of the things that I love about the Internet is that I can use it for so many reasons. Along with watching television shows and movies, and play games, I use to to send emails (which I love much more than snail mail!) and I can use it to help me find local restaurants and businesses. I can even pick a destination city of someplace that I hope to visit on a vacation and use the Internet to perform a local search to see what activities and businesses are in the area I plan to visit.
I can remember when my wife moved up here over thirty years ago one of the first things she did was call the phone company before she moved and had them mail her a copy of the local yellowpages for her to look through. She said it really helped her to understand the area she was moving into a lot better, knowing what resources were here before she actually arrived!
I do like my chocolate, and when you throw in some peanut butter, all the better for me. I always have a bag of Reese’s Pieces close by to munch on. I just saw on TV that they are coming out with a dark Reese’s peanut butter and chocolate candy bar. I prefer my milk chocolate, but am always willing to try something new, besides they are now saying that dark chocolate is good for you.
