My wife is pretty smart when it comes to shopping at wholesale clubs like Sam’s Club. She got the membership card for Sam’s Club in only her name so she has to go with me when I want to shop there! I’m thinking it is so she can keep my spending under control once we get there! I love all of the great deals you can get there!
I’ve been thinking about getting a digital camera for our youngest son for a Christmas gift. I think that the prices have started to come down to a reasonable price on these little gadgets and the time is right to buy one! I’ll be comparing prices between the Kodak, Nikon, Samsung, Olympus, and Canon brands to see which one will give us the best value for our money. I’m going to want to get one that has a lot of pixels but is very user friendly.
Now that the trees have peaked it is time for fall cleanup! It is hard to believe how many leaves there are on the ground! I really hate raking leaves – not just for the hard labor point of view, but because I know that leaves are the basis for good, rich soil in the woods. When I rake leaves up I feel that I am robbing the earth of the nutrition that it needs. And decomposing leaves are FREE nutrition! If it wasn’t for the fact that I make good money doing fall cleanup services for my customers I don’t think I’d remove the leaves at all! And I am very grateful for the invention of the riding mower with bagger attachment, and the leaf blower! They make my work a lot easier!
With the cost of the US Mail going up, and the cost of Christmas cards going up, my wife and I are thinking about using postcards instead of traditional Christmas cards this year. We can get customized postcard printing on the Internet with our choice of designs – even custom photographs of us sitting in front of our fireplace, or a photograph us sitting in front of our own Christmas tree with all of the handmade ornaments on it. We always have such a great tree, chock full of hand made ornaments; everyone who sees it likes to spend a lot of time looking at all of the different ornaments.
A client of mine gave me about two dozen dress shirts that he doesn’t want anymore. They all look brand new and they fit great! The only thing I don’t care about them is that they all have french cuff sleeves. So I brought them home and showed them to my wife and asked her what we could do about that. She said that she could change the cuffs or cut them off to be short sleeved. I don’t have very many short sleeved dress shirts, so I’m opting for that. It will be great to have a lot of good looking short sleeved dress shirts! I’m so glad my wife is a great seamstress!
One of the best tricks my wife ever showed me was using address labels to identify our possessions. She uses them to label the books and magazines that we lend out. She uses them on luggage tags that she puts on backpacks and suitcases! She sticks them on lunch boxes, too. When our son went off to college she gave him a lot of envelopes with our address labels already stuck on them for him to use too! And whenever we go to a pot-luck supper she will put an address label on the bottom of the casserole dish (or crock pot) to make sure that we bring home the right dishes! I think that’s a really smart idea, don’t you?
