I was reading on the Yahoo odd news a story about how a man who owned a pizza shop in Pennsylvania had shot a deer and put the carcass in his pizzerias kitchen for a friend to come pick up.  Somehow one of the pizzeria cooks “mistakenly” started to carve up the deer.  He was spotted by a restaurant patron, who complained to the health department.  No citation was issued.  I cannot imagine how a cook, in the employment of the pizza shop could “mistakenly” carve up the deer!  Seems to me that he must have been told by someone to do that, don’t you?  If not, wouldn’t you think it was a health violation to simply have a dead deer in the kitchen?  Sounds very suspicious to me!

I was noticing that my wife and I are not eating out as often as we used to. Sure, part of it is the economy; money is tight. But it is largely due to the fact that most of the restaurants are moving towards serving spicier foods that we either don’t like at all, or our stomachs can’t tolerate. More and more we find ourselves going to what USED to be a favorite restaurant only to find that the meal we had hoped to order is no longer on the menu, and there is nothing else on the menu that we want (or can) eat. This is both a bad thing and a good thing, I guess. Bad because it would be nice to be able to go out for a nice meal with the wife from time to time and actually enjoy the food and not be sick a couple of hours later from eating it, but good because it is saving us money by not allowing us to eat out.

My wife and I honeymooned in DisneyWorld.  We fell in love with the place and we go there as often as we can go!  To be honest, we’d love to live down there and work there!  We never get over how clean the parks are, and how well run everything is.

My wife’s favorite park is the Magic Kingdom.  She loves to go up and down Main Street and watch the performances of the barbershop quartets and then sit at the restaurant on the corner near the castle and listen to the piano player.  She could do that for hours!  And she loves going on the Big Thunder Mountain ride, and watch the Country Bears Jamboree show.   She loves eating the pineapple flavored treats in AdventureLand, and the chocolate chip cookies in Liberty Square.

I’m not sure if my favorite is the Hollywood Studios park or Epcot Center.  I love the Hollywood Studios Backstage tour where we get to see how special effects are made and go on the tram to the back lots.  And the attraction where they show the stunts with the cars is wonderful!  But I also love Epcot center because we are able to go to the different cultural centers and see some really great shows and eat some really great food!  And I loved the street performance of the Jammitors (or was it the Jamminators?) the last time we went there – they were absolutely terrific!  We were thrilled that we had our video camera with us and could videotape their performance to share it with people back home!  We made a point to look at the performance schedule to watch them a couple of times!

We get discount Disney World Tickets from the  Orlandofuntickets.com website before we head out so that we don’t have to wait in line when we get there to buy tickets.  They have great prices on tickets for a lot of different attractions in Orlando.

Almost every morning I head out to the local Mom & Pop deli, where I meet up with my friends.  We have been friends since elementary school, and although we have different jobs, we like to take a morning break and sit with each other for about an hour or so and drink coffee, have a pastry and talk.  My wife calls it “gossip” but I keep telling her that men don’t gossip!  We talk about a wide variety of things, not just who has done what to who!

Joe was telling me that he was looking at some car pictures on the Internet the other day.  He just got himself a new laptop computer, and has been spending a lot of time browsing around the Internet.  His latest toy!  He was checking out the thecarconnection.com website that I had told him about a few days ago when he mentioned that his son was thinking about buying a ferrari down the road.  We all laughed at him when he said that because his son doesn’t even have a job right now!

My sister Karen  has been talking to me lately about how she thinks we should get a home alarm system for our mother.  Apparently Mom has been calling Karen at all hours of the night several times in the past couple of weeks because she has been frightened by a strange noise, or thinks that someone is trying to break into her house.  I have to agree that in those circumstance, buying a home alarm system is probably a very good idea.  Although I feel that Mom lives in a very safe neighborhood, giving her the peace of mind that she needs so that she stops calling Karen all the time is a good idea.

Today we were driving around town running a few errands. The weather was really nice for a change, and a lot of people were driving with their windows open, enjoying the warm weather. We were driving down a divided highway; two lanes on each side. The traffic light stopped, and I stopped behind a car to wait for the light to change. We were in the left lane. The car in the right lane next to the car in front of me, and the car in front of me both had their windows open. The driver in the car in front of me decided that his windshield was dirty and turned on his windshield wipers and pushed the washer fluid button. Well, something had happened to the squirter; it didn’t squirt the windshield at all! It squirted into the driver’s window of the car next to it! It got the driver right in the ear! Of course that was a big surprise and everyone involved laughed. That must have been the funniest thing I’ve seen in months! What a riot!

I like to try to buy new work clothes for the crew every year.  That way they have no excuse for coming to work wearing something totally inappropriate for the job!  And buying them their work clothes is tax deductible, so I think it is good business strategy all the way around.  I’ve found a good place to buy them is the Workinggear.com website.  They have a fantastic selection of just about everything I can think of that my crew needs.  Durable Levi’s are always on the top of our list for the pants we like to wear year-round.

Carharttshorts are great for hot days. We wear their overalls when working on our equipment, too. It’s hard to find a better quality than Carhartt!  And there is no doubt in my mind that the next time I want to buy a pair of Harley Davidson boots that I will be going to their site to find them!  They have a a huge selection of them to choose from!

My wife and I have a floor lamp that she bought a long time ago that she dearly loves. Personally, I don’t care for it at all, but my wife loves it. It has a 3-way socket that has finally quit working so I bought a new 3-way socket and some new wiring so that I could rewire the entire lamp. I like working with my hands, and even though electricity intimidates a lot of people that I know, I took a few courses a long time ago and I know how to work with it.

It took a few minutes to take the lamp apart and re-wire it, but it was well worth it. The lamp works again, and my wife is a very happy camper! If you have a lamp that you (or your wife) dearly love(s) and the socket dies, just re-wire it! It is a money saving and environment saving thing to do!

I’ve noticed that a lot more of my customers have been installing home alarm systems lately.  They’ve become nervous due to the recent increase in home and camp burglaries in the area.  I can’t really say that I blame them; a lot of them are elderly people who are afraid that not only are they easy targets for criminals to break into their houses but also easy victims for being beaten and perhaps even killed.

Although I have some concerns about how fast the police could actually get to their homes in response to the alarm, I think that it is entirely possible that if a thief DOES break into the house and audible alarms go off, the thief is more likely to leave quickly.
