Telling tales out of school

My mother loves to tell people the story about how when I was a baby (still sleeping in a crib) I loved wearing my boots. Wearing my boots meant that I could go play outside in the snow, the rain, and the mud. I loved them dearly! I refused to take them off – ever. My poor mom had to buy two spare pairs of boots for me to wear in the house. Of course she was afraid that my feet would sweat and I’d get athlete’s foot, so she would sprinkle baby powder in them before she would let me wear them.

I would not even sleep without them! My mother says that she would wait until I fell asleep and then she would sneak into my room and slip off my boots. I’d wake up a couple of hours later and realize that my boots were gone and I’d start screaming “BOOTS!” I wouldn’t settle down until my mom came back into my room and put my boots back on my feet! It must have driven my poor mom crazy!  Sorry mom!
