My wife just reminded me that her car also needs a new A/C compressor. Her air conditioner broke at the end of last summer, and we didn’t bother to fix it then. I was too busy doing fall cleanups for my customers. Fortunately I bought a replacement last fall for her car from the 1airconditioning.com website, so I already have it on hand. Since I have to pull her car into the garage and work on it anyway, this would be a good time to fix her broken air conditioner. I know how miserable she gets when she is too hot, so the air conditioner has to work in her car if I want to keep her happy!

I got a phone call from a friend last night telling me that he and his wife are planning to spend a weekend at Monhegan Island this July, and they want us to go with them. I really don’t want to go; I’ve gone to Monhegan twice before and had a miserable time. I understand that lots of people think it is charming to take a ferry over rough water to a remote island that has no cars, and no electricity but every time I’ve gone there I absolutely hated it! I got seasick on the trip over, and I was bored to death when we got there. There is no form of entertainment there other than walking, biking, and reading! Not my idea of fun at all!
I told them that I appreciated the offer but that we were not the “Monhegan Island” type of vacationers. I’d much rather go to an amusement park of some kind!
The power steering went out on my wife’s car this past weekend. It’s never a good time for something like that to break, but since it has been a banner winter for our plowing and sanding, it is good that it happened now. I can buy the new steering rack and all of the parts that I need to fix it over the Internet at the powersteeringpros.com website and when the parts come in I can fix it myself.
This is a question that has been bothering me for the past couple of weeks. I was talking to an engineering student that goes to Princeton about the price of gas, and the need to find alternative fuel because of the ever increasing price of oil. He told me something that I had not heard before – he told me that the US government is subsidizing the big oil companies! He said it was complicated and he didn’t have time to explain it to me, but that he has learned at school that the US Government is subsidizing them! But that is one of the biggest reasons that alternative fuels have NOT been aggressively pursued!
WHAT ON EARTH????? If that is true, I think it is high time THAT stopped! George Bush had the gall to stand up in front of audiences and say that the only cure for high oil prices is for us to drill more for oil here in the US, but we are subsidizing the oil companies???? They make such a huge profit and pay their executives obscene amounts of money! The oil companies say the high price of gas is because of supply and demand! I think that we should stop subsidizing them and spend more money on alternative fuels, which would reduce the demand for oil, which would then reduce the price of oil.
I was hearing on the news this past weekend that the poor economy has even hit Las Vegas! The news program showed footage of the inside of some of the largest casinos, and they were completely empty. Now you KNOW that the economy is bad if people are not even going to Las Vegas to try to win big! I have to wonder where are all of the people who are addicted to gambling? If they aren’t in Las Vegas gambling, I wonder where they are getting their “fix.”
My wife and I have often spoken about going to Las Vegas on a dream vacation. Not for the gambling, though. Neither one of us enjoys any gambling with stakes any higher than a dollar or two on a lottery ticket! Well, maybe we would try some slot machines. I wonder how “cheap” you can go on a slot machine.
What we would really like to do in Las Vegas is to attend some of the all-you-can-eat buffets and watch some of the famous Las Vegas Shows. Especially one of the Cirque du Soleil shows. Did you know that there are several different Cirque du Soleil shows? I didn’t! I thought there was only one kind!
I just found out that there are several different Cirque du Soleil shows; the KA, Mystere, Believe, LOVE, O, and Zumanity. I don’t have even the beginning of a clue as to what any of them are “about!” I thought that there was only “one” show, and that it was a spectacular circus with a lot of special effects and made it look like people were flying. I know that effect is created by wires and harnesses, but it’s a cool effect just them same!
So I am going to have to tell my wife to research the different ones and tell me about them before we make any plans to go there, so we can pick out which ones we think we would enjoy the most.
