I like seiko watches.  I like to have a variety so that I can wear the right watch on the right occasion.  I don’t want to wear my best watch when I’m out working in the yard, and I don’t want to wear my “everyday watch” when I put on a nice suit to go to church or any kind of dressy occasion.  My favorite watch is the Seiko SNF290 Men’s Strap Gold Tone Dress Watch with Champagne Dial.  I just like the classic good looks of the watch.  I like the brown leather strap; it fits my arm perfectly, and it doesnt’ pinch or grab the hairs on my arm, wrenching them out when I put the watch on or take it off.  I’ve found a nice variety of the seiko watches for sale at the bluedial.com website.  Their prices are reasonable and they offer free shipping.

As we are looking for ways to minimize our expenses, we have been looking at ways we can save money on food. We don’t normally eat out very often, so it is hard to cut back on that. We are buying more “store brand” items than ever before, and we are eating more macaroni and cheese, more spaghetti, more beans and franks. My wife doesn’t like beans and franks, so I try to eat that when my wife isn’t going to be home. We’ve agreed to try to eat breakfast for supper at least once a week, too. It’s been a while since we’ve had time to cook breakfast for breakfast, so we’re going to enjoy it at supper time. And by breakfast, I don’t mean a bowl of cereal, I mean bacon and eggs or pancakes and sausage, something like that. I’m actually looking forward to that!

I’m always interested in learning about natural remedies, or “home remedies” that work to cure problems.  For example, my sister gave me a book a few years ago that was full of home remedies that I look at from time to time if a “problem” pops up and see if I can try the remedy before going to a doctor.  I’ve tried a couple of the home remedies with good luck – I’ve used toothpaste to cure acne and solid Crisco-type shortening on dry skin.  I’m telling you this so you will know that I have a fairly open mind about things like this.

We have a new neighbor that has been trying to convince me to try her favorite natural remedies that she buys over the Internet.  She swears by a product called Intramax that is a liquid that she drinks that is full of vitamins and minerals that is supposed to promote general good health.  And she said she is going to try some Lithium Orotate, which is a mood stabilizer.  When she told me that, I was surprised – I thought Lithium was a prescription medicine and that you had to have a doctor’s prescription for it!  So that made me a little bit nervous, and I wondered about the legality of buying it over the Internet.

She also was telling me that she uses a Natural Sunscreen that is SPF 30, FDA approved and safe for children.  Now THAT I would give a try without much reservation.  I told her the next time she placed an order, to order one for me to try.  I will be curious to see how I like it!

Fireworks have been illegal in this state for as far back as I can remember. I saw an article in the local paper that the State is going to consider whether to legalize them. At this point, the only “fireworks” anyone can legally buy and use in this state are those lame “sparklers.” As far as I’m concerned, sparklers are dangerous because the sparks that fly off of them when the kids are waving them around burn people in close proximity to the kids! Even though fireworks are illegal, throughout the tourist season I hear fireworks going off almost every weekend night – being lit by tourists who are celebrating their vacation. I can’t get a good night’s sleep on the weekends because they go off until midnight or even later!

I agree that fireworks are dangerous, and the commercial fireworks that you can buy in other states tend to be really expensive and fairly lame, and that the towns put on good fireworks displays. However, I don’t go to the town displays because I don’t like dealing with the crowds late at night trying to get home. If fireworks were legal here, I’d probably buy some and save them for really special occasions – like setting them off at 5 in the morning after one of our neighbors was setting his off until 1 am. They like to share their love with me, and I’d love to return the favor!

My wife and I have been invited to attend a baby shower.  To be honest, I’ve never been to a baby shower.  I thought those were reserved just for the pregnant woman and her friends.  I don’t know what to think about the invitation.  I don’t know if I should ignore it and send my wife by herself, or go along.  I’m tempted to go along just to see what happens at a baby shower!  The shower is a month away, so I have time to think about it.

Along with the invitation was a enclosed”wish list” of items that the expectant parents would appreciate getting as gifts for the baby. The wish list included such items as a car seat and a nappy bag.  I asked my wife “what in the world is a ‘nappy bag?’ and she told me that it is another name for “diaper bag.”  Then she rolled her eyes, which meant that she thought that EVERYONE knew that!  Well, I’m not really comfortable with the thought of buying a breast pump, and car seats are on the expensive side, so I’m going to suggest to my wife that we buy a nappy bag if we go to the shower.
