I like seiko watches. I like to have a variety so that I can wear the right watch on the right occasion. I don’t want to wear my best watch when I’m out working in the yard, and I don’t want to wear my “everyday watch” when I put on a nice suit to go to church or any kind of dressy occasion. My favorite watch is the Seiko SNF290 Men’s Strap Gold Tone Dress Watch with Champagne Dial. I just like the classic good looks of the watch. I like the brown leather strap; it fits my arm perfectly, and it doesnt’ pinch or grab the hairs on my arm, wrenching them out when I put the watch on or take it off. I’ve found a nice variety of the seiko watches for sale at the bluedial.com website. Their prices are reasonable and they offer free shipping.

As we are looking for ways to minimize our expenses, we have been looking at ways we can save money on food. We don’t normally eat out very often, so it is hard to cut back on that. We are buying more “store brand” items than ever before, and we are eating more macaroni and cheese, more spaghetti, more beans and franks. My wife doesn’t like beans and franks, so I try to eat that when my wife isn’t going to be home. We’ve agreed to try to eat breakfast for supper at least once a week, too. It’s been a while since we’ve had time to cook breakfast for breakfast, so we’re going to enjoy it at supper time. And by breakfast, I don’t mean a bowl of cereal, I mean bacon and eggs or pancakes and sausage, something like that. I’m actually looking forward to that!
I’m always interested in learning about natural remedies, or “home remedies” that work to cure problems. For example, my sister gave me a book a few years ago that was full of home remedies that I look at from time to time if a “problem” pops up and see if I can try the remedy before going to a doctor. I’ve tried a couple of the home remedies with good luck – I’ve used toothpaste to cure acne and solid Crisco-type shortening on dry skin. I’m telling you this so you will know that I have a fairly open mind about things like this.
We have a new neighbor that has been trying to convince me to try her favorite natural remedies that she buys over the Internet. She swears by a product called Intramax that is a liquid that she drinks that is full of vitamins and minerals that is supposed to promote general good health. And she said she is going to try some Lithium Orotate, which is a mood stabilizer. When she told me that, I was surprised – I thought Lithium was a prescription medicine and that you had to have a doctor’s prescription for it! So that made me a little bit nervous, and I wondered about the legality of buying it over the Internet.
She also was telling me that she uses a Natural Sunscreen that is SPF 30, FDA approved and safe for children. Now THAT I would give a try without much reservation. I told her the next time she placed an order, to order one for me to try. I will be curious to see how I like it!
Fireworks have been illegal in this state for as far back as I can remember. I saw an article in the local paper that the State is going to consider whether to legalize them. At this point, the only “fireworks” anyone can legally buy and use in this state are those lame “sparklers.” As far as I’m concerned, sparklers are dangerous because the sparks that fly off of them when the kids are waving them around burn people in close proximity to the kids! Even though fireworks are illegal, throughout the tourist season I hear fireworks going off almost every weekend night – being lit by tourists who are celebrating their vacation. I can’t get a good night’s sleep on the weekends because they go off until midnight or even later!
I agree that fireworks are dangerous, and the commercial fireworks that you can buy in other states tend to be really expensive and fairly lame, and that the towns put on good fireworks displays. However, I don’t go to the town displays because I don’t like dealing with the crowds late at night trying to get home. If fireworks were legal here, I’d probably buy some and save them for really special occasions – like setting them off at 5 in the morning after one of our neighbors was setting his off until 1 am. They like to share their love with me, and I’d love to return the favor!
My wife and I have been invited to attend a baby shower. To be honest, I’ve never been to a baby shower. I thought those were reserved just for the pregnant woman and her friends. I don’t know what to think about the invitation. I don’t know if I should ignore it and send my wife by herself, or go along. I’m tempted to go along just to see what happens at a baby shower! The shower is a month away, so I have time to think about it.
Along with the invitation was a enclosed”wish list” of items that the expectant parents would appreciate getting as gifts for the baby. The wish list included such items as a car seat and a nappy bag. I asked my wife “what in the world is a ‘nappy bag?’ and she told me that it is another name for “diaper bag.” Then she rolled her eyes, which meant that she thought that EVERYONE knew that! Well, I’m not really comfortable with the thought of buying a breast pump, and car seats are on the expensive side, so I’m going to suggest to my wife that we buy a nappy bag if we go to the shower.
There’s a story in the local paper about a Belfast woman who confessed to murdering her husband has changed her plea in the case from “not guilty by reason of mental defect” to simply “not guilty.” The story then talks about how the woman had confessed to her neighbor and to the police that she had killed her husband. So I don’t understand why she would think for a minute that she could start out with a confession and then change the plea to not guilty. Doesn’t seem to make any sense at all? Can you explain it to me?
I have to wonder how many Americans are going to be able to afford to buy new homes in the near future? I know that there are spots around the country where the recession is hurting folks more than others, and I’m sure there are bargains to be had here and there. I’ve been surprised to see how many people are still able to afford custom-built homes. If I had my ‘druthers, I’d want a custom built home too! The Schumacher Homes Louisiana branch of the Schumacher Homes company is a locally run company that designs and builds affordable, quality custom homes for their customers. I’d love to retire in Louisiana and have a custom built house there!
For some strange reason I caught the tail end of the Dr. Phil show today. I just happened to be sitting down at the table for a snack of nachos and turned on the television, and there he was. He was interviewing a woman who was boo-hooing about how her wedding day was a nightmare. She is, herself, an event planner and felt that she could plan her own perfect wedding in less than 24 hours, but it was a shambles and she can’t get over it. Well, all I can say is that she should have known that it takes more than 24 hours to plan and pull off the perfect wedding! Good grief woman, get over it! You’re married, and that’s what counts.
I was surprised to learn about a website called abacus24-7.com; it’s primary target market is the cutomers that need accessories for electronic devices that they have purchased somewhere else. In other words, they don’t sell Dell printers, but they do sell Dell ink. They sell the OEM and the remanufactured ink cartridges for many printers. I’ve never bought a remanufactured ink cartridge for my own printer. In fact I didn’t know that they even MADE remanufactured ink cartridges for my printer!
My own printer is a Lexmark X6170. I usually buy my printer ink at the local big box discount departments store, which I will not name in this post, but most of us have one of these within a half hour’s drive. It only sells the name brand ink for my printer, and every time I run out of ink I cringe about how much money it costs to buy new ink cartridges! But their price has always been lower than the local office supply stores, so I’ve bought it. I haven’t bought ink cartridges over the Internet before because the shipping charges have been astronomical! But this particular website charges a flat fee of only $4.99 within the United States; order over $99 are shipped by standard mail free! This abacus24-7.com site’s price for the remanufactured ink for my printer is a huge bargain! So I think that I am going to order my next cartridges for my printer from them – I’ll be saving money and it will be more convenient too! I just have to remember to order the ink when my printer warns me that I’m running low, and not wait until the last minute!
Sometimes a death bed confession is a good thing. Sometimes it can go awry! It’s a good thing because it can help people get closure when they have been victimized. And it is supposedly a good thing to clear the conscience. I think that too many people rely on death bed confessions as their ticket to heaven, though, hoping that a full confession for forgiveness will clear the slate with the powers that be. This gives them “permission” to keep their sins a secret until the last minute, which I think is a bad thing! Anyway, the whole reason for this post is an article on the bbc.com website that I read about a man in Oklahoma who had a stroke and thought he was on his death bed so he called the police to the hospital and confessed to a 32 year old murder. Well, the man survived, and now he will be tried for murder. I guess his plot to avoid the consequences of killing someone didn’t quite go as planned!
I think that it is amazing to hear about all of the medical advancements that have been made in the area of orthopedic medicine. It seems that everywhere I go I meet someone who has had some kind of orthopedic procedure done. Bone grafts, joint replacements, fusions, it’s all remarkable! Medical science sure had made some miraculous advances over the years! I’m sure glad that I don’t live in the “old days” when these procedures were just “dreams of the future.”
Unfortunately, there have been some serious setbacks for some patients who have been orthopedic patients. For example, there have been some serious issues on zimmer durom cup knee replacements. It appears that about 8% of the patients who have had this type of knee replacement surgery have had to be operated on again within a short period of time because the cup was not operating properly. This has resulted in a durom lawsuit situation, where lawyers are suing the manufacturer of the cup. The durom lawyer does not sue the practitioner for the surgery because the practitioner did nothing wrong; it is a lawsuit against the company that made the defective cup. It’s a real shame that so many patients have had to go through additional surgeries because of the defects. I hope that a new device has been created that does not have the same problems!
A short while ago I was so proud of myself! I had gone shopping and brought home an “Infinity Razor.” The box claimed that the blade would never need to be replaced; it would stay sharp forever. It looked like your basic manual razor, but I thought “Well, what the heck, with modern technology, who knows, I’ll buy it!” I can’t even remember how much I paid for it. This morning my wife saw me rummaging around the bathroom, looking for a fresh razor. She asked me why wasn’t I using my “special, wonderful Infinity Razor.” I was sorry to tell her that the blade was dull on the very second shave! I’m going to try to find a customer contact number on the Internet to lodge a complaint about it. I wish I’d kept the receipt and packaging!
In the business I’m in, boots are serious business. I’m always out in the snow, the rain, and the mud. So I’m always looking for waterproof, puncture resistant boots. Preferably insulated to help keep my feet warm when I’m outside working for my customers. My daughter tells me that her boyfriend recently bought some nice boots from the website copshoes.com, and suggested that I try to buy my next pair of boots from them. She said that he bought a pair of Timberland Boots and that he was really pleased with them, even though they are factory seconds. He said that their customer service is excellent, and that they warrant all of their boots against gross noticeable defects for up to 30 days. I’m going to check them out and see if they have anything I’m interested in.
My mother loves to tell people the story about how when I was a baby (still sleeping in a crib) I loved wearing my boots. Wearing my boots meant that I could go play outside in the snow, the rain, and the mud. I loved them dearly! I refused to take them off – ever. My poor mom had to buy two spare pairs of boots for me to wear in the house. Of course she was afraid that my feet would sweat and I’d get athlete’s foot, so she would sprinkle baby powder in them before she would let me wear them.
I would not even sleep without them! My mother says that she would wait until I fell asleep and then she would sneak into my room and slip off my boots. I’d wake up a couple of hours later and realize that my boots were gone and I’d start screaming “BOOTS!” I wouldn’t settle down until my mom came back into my room and put my boots back on my feet! It must have driven my poor mom crazy! Sorry mom!
My kids have been bugging me to subscribe to Direct TV. They keep telling me that the Direct TV Options would give us more movie channels, and more sports channels. They would even give my wife more channels dedicated to the things that she likes, like crafts and home improvement shows. I’ve been perfectly happy with the service we have had in the past, I’m not really home enough to watch a lot of television. By the time I get home from work I’m so tired that all I want to do is eat supper, take a shower, and grab some sleep!
But my wife has been telling me that the DirectTV Options are a good value, and that some of the shows that she used to really love have moved off of the cable television service that we currently have and can only be seen if we upgrade our service to a more expensive cable service, or go to a satellite service. So I’ve told her to check out all of the options and get back to me about which one gives us the best value and then we’ll talk about it some more.
According to what I’ve heard from tonight’s news on television Natasha Richardson’s skiing accident has left her in an irreversible life-threatening coma. They say she bumped her head while skiing on the beginner’s bunny trail, while taking a lesson. They said she was not wearing a helmet. That really surprised me that they even mentioned that. I admit that it has been a few years since I’ve been on the ski slopes, but I’ve never seen any adult wear a helmet while skiing, and darn few kids. In fact, I’m really not sure I’ve ever seen anyone wear a helmet on the ski slope. Is this something new? Are most skiers wearing helmets now? I can’t imagine wearing a helmet while skiing; I don’t think it would keep my head warm enough! I’m sure that people’s heads would be better protected, I’m just wondering how their heads could be warm enough too.
One of my cousins sent me an email, telling me that he took a lot of his old “junk” that was just taking up space to his local isold it store and that they are going to go through it and list it for sale on Ebay for him. He’s excited at the prospect of making some extra money while clearing up the clutter that has been bugging his wife for years. He tells me that he is sure that he can sell it for a lot of money but that he really doesn’t have the time, or the patience, to deal with it himself. So when he found out about the isoldit store and the services that it provides to sell things on Ebay for their customers, he jumped at the chance to make some easy money.
He is hoping to make enough money to buy a new furnace for his house. His old furnace has been giving him a lot of trouble and he has been putting off buying a new one because he’s afraid to spend the money on a big-ticket item like that when the economy is so unstable. He’s been hearing a lot of rumors around the office about imminent layoffs, and everyone there is really nervous! So he is glad to have found out about the isoldit store as a way to raise some cash!
My wife came home from a Red Hatter party and was telling me that they are thinking about taking a belly dancing class. She said that they watched a couple of belly-dancing videos and voted to sign up for a class. She told me that one of the videos featured a man belly dancing! I had never heard of a man belly dancing before! I thought it was strictly a woman’s dance! She said that the man’s name is Tito, and that he danced with canes, and on top of a drum. It sounded interesting, so we spent some time looking him up on Google and found quite a few videos and articles about him. Well, you learn something new every day, don’t you!
I was just reading an article on the Time.com website that a daycare staffer took a container that had fluid in it that looked like blue Kool-Aid from the refrigerator and served it to several young children in the daycare center. The children were hospitalized because the fluid was actually windshield wiper fluid! I’m totally shocked – how and why did the stuff end up in the refrigerator? Can’t the person who was putting away groceries read? I understand that the fluid is blue, but there would have been pictures on the container to reflect that it was NOT Kool-Aid! Probably pictures of a car and windshield wipers! I understand that the lady who ran the daycare center has surrendered her daycare license, and the kids should be okay; it’s just a terrible shame! A senseless error, thank goodness no one died!
Flags are symbols. They may be a symbol of a religion, a country, or a company. They are a communication tool. I get very angry when I see television news coverage showing people burning other country’s flags. I think it is extremely disrespectful to do that. I’ve always been brought up to respect other people and other countries. We may not agree with what the leaders of other countries may be doing, but to burn the flag that symbolizes the entire county is not going to improve the situation at all!
I can remember as a child, saying the pledge of allegiance every morning in school. I used to get goosebumps when we said the pledge. I don’t know why; I just did. There have been a lot of times in my life that I have been disappointed, even angry at some of the dirty tricks that some of our country’s leaders have pulled. The way the leaders treated the American Indian, and the Japanese Americans during WWII, and more recently the prisoners at Gitmo are nothing short of disgraceful. I can understand why many people in many countries would become disillusioned with our entire country over events such as these. Yes, our leaders have made many errors, but I have hope that with our newly elected leaders that people will start to take pride in our American flag once again.
