I was reading in an article on Time’s website that men are more likely to die in floods than women.  The article goes on to say that men are more likely to die in thunderstorms, too.  The attempted explanations theorize that the reason for these situations could be because men take more risks than women do, and/or it could be simply because men tend to spend more time outdoors than women do, so they are exposed to the risks of being killed in situations like that.

The article made me think about what I would do if my family was in a serious flood and I felt that I had to try to rescue a family member.  How much risk would I take?  I wonder how many of those flood related deaths are actually attributed to men trying to rescue someone else?  The article does not explore that path at all, so I guess I’ll just have to keep wondering.

I’ve heard the phrase “as easy as taking candy from a baby” which is a pretty low thing to do, if you ask me.  But I was browsing the Internet, looking for interesting things going on and stumbled on a news story of a young man (I think 18ish) robbing a kid’s lemonade stand!  I think that’s pretty low, too!

Anyway, the guy who robbed the lemonade stand ended up getting caught!  It seems that there were several young kids running the lemonade stand and one of the kids chased the robber and called the police on her cell phone reporting the robbery and the chase, and they ended up arresting the guy!

If you want to see the story I read, click here!

Everyone I talk to or listen to, all on the television, is the news about Tim Russert’sdeath today.  I’ve been watching the news, listening to all of the reporters talking about how great Tim was, how much he loved his family, how great an anchor he was of Meet The Press.  I have to admit that I only really started watching Meet The Press about a year ago, but I was impressed by how good a show it was, for a show that wasn’t supposed to be “entertainment.”  I admit my favorite shows are all about sci-fi, but Meet The Press really was a show worth watching.  I wonder who they find to fill his shoes?  It will be tough to do!

I didn’t have time last weekend to clean and polish my Harley after my ride to Richmond, so I spent most of the day today taking care of that chore.  I love to clean and polish my Harley, it is so beautiful and shiny when I’m done.  I get a lot of compliments on my bike when I take it places, and I’m really proud of how great it looks.

I went exploring today on my Harley, I put over 300 miles on it!  I drove down to Richmond and back.  I really can’t recall ever going to Richmond before.  I drove right past the racetrack, which got me really excited!  Now I know where the racetrack is, I’m sure I’ll be going there again to watch some races!

I got caught in a rainstorm, which convinced me that my wife was right, I really SHOULD buy some rain gear and I really SHOULD buy a windshield.  It would have made riding in the rain a lot more comfortable!
